Sevilla are 14-1 longshots (on Betfair) to win tonight which kind of sums up their chances as Real have a very impressive 100% record to defend. However they are masters of the dark arts, if their mid-week match against Dortmund was anything to go by, so could make life awkward for Ronaldo's gang.
From the Picklive team page you would think it's straight forward to pick 5 Madrid players for this match; Ramos (58.3), Ronaldo (61.5), Marcelo (62.5) and Alonso (62.25) are comfortably the top 4 and you'd probably add Ozil (51.5) to that selection. The problem is that it looks like Ramos, Marcelo and Alonso will all be out.
For Sevilla it's the full-backs that stand out: In the match at home to Deportivo the full-backs were their top points scorers, next (ignoring cards) were Navas (RW), Caceres (CB) and Zokora (CM). Stripping the goals, cards and assists out of the game away to Malaga gives us a top Sevilla 5 of Navarro (LB), Caceres (CB), Dabo (RB), Guarente (S) and Perotti (LW).
Against Sporting Gijon the top 5 looked like this: Renato (CB), Navarro (LB), Escude (CB), Konko (RB) and Romaric (CM and subbed after 55 mins - he gets subbed a lot). And against Valencia it was Dabo (RB), Renato (CM), Kanoute (S), Caceres (CB) and Navarro (LB - subbed 84 mins). So the summary of that lot is that the Sevilla full-backs are consistent strong scorers. After them it's a centre-back or a defensive midfielder. But can you make a case for including any more than maybe a single Sevilla player in your Big Game team?
I'll be including one of the Sevilla full-backs and then probably going for 4 Real players. I'll go for Ronaldo and Ozil and see if Khedira makes the first XI. After that I'll see what the shape of the team is and maybe go for a full-back or have a look for someone like di Maria or Carvalho. The other consideration for me is whether to include the Sevilla keeper. In the Real matches against Valencia and Atletico Madrid, both 2-0 wins, the away team goalkeeper was the 2nd highest points scorer in the match. Could be worth a punt?
Good luck!
