Wolves v Liverpool

Wolves are unbeaten in 6 home games against Liverpool, have won 4 of their last 8 league games and are coming into this game off a comfortable 5-0 win over Doncaster in the FA Cup. Liverpool on the other hand have an atrocious away record, picking up just 5 points on the road, and are struggling to convert the Dalglish hype into results.

However Liverpool have a unpredictable air about them at the moment and have had creditable results against Chelsea, Arsenal, Napoli and Bolton this season, although all at home. For that reason I'll probably laugh in the face of the form book and pick at least 2 Liverpool players.

Johnson and Lucas are two safe picks but I fancy a few goals in this match so I will be going for Meireles who  has a decent average and also a greater chance of a goal or an assist than the other two. Kuyt got a huge 114 in the last Picklive match against Everton and even without goals and assists would've been the top Liverpool points scorer. That score though included two shots off target, two on target and two blocked - something he's never achieved anything close to in his previous Picklive career. Rodriguez is a similar player, in Picklive terms, and I'll be avoiding both him and Kuyt for this match - too risky away from home.

I'll be waiting for the line-ups before picking though, either of the full-backs are worth considering and I'll go for one of them or Lucas plus Meireles.

There are less stats available for Wolves on Picklive so it's more difficult to recommend players with any certainty. Jones/Foley/Henry has been my pick in previous seasons and so will probably be my default pick. David Jones has played two Picklive games and scored 62 and 70. These would've been 69 and 79  under the new scoring system - impressive! Foley had a huge 94 against Man Utd. along with a 61 and 51 in his 3 Picklive games so far. The match against Man Utd. apart these scores wouldn't have changed much in the new system, so he's usually dependable but unexciting.

Two other players who might be worth considering are Mujangi Bia and Adam Hammill if either starts. Bia scored his first for Wolves in mid-week and highly rated Hammill may make his debut after arriving from Barnsley. Both would be a punt though. Milijas has an excellent passes/minutes ratio according to the Telegraph and Guardian stats and is worth considering if he starts ahead of Jones.

For the Live Game Jones and Lucas will likely give you a good steady scoring rate with scope to add in Meireles, Foley, Johnson etc. Or maybe a keeper or Torres if you're feeling lucky.

For the Big Game I'll be going for Jones, Foley, Meirles, Lucas and someone risky chosen at the last moment.

Good luck!
