The last 5 Chelsea away games on Picklive have seen them field 3 of the top 5 scoring players three times and 4 of the top 5 twice. Mikel has been their 5th, 1st, 3rd, 5th and 2nd top Chelsea points scorer respectively in those five matches. Those two 5th places would've been 3rd and 2nd if it wasn't for a minus 10 points in each match for a yellow card.
Aston Villa have played less Picklive games so there's less to go on. This is further complicated by their erratic point scoring; in their last five games they've had 1, 4, 1, 3 and 4 players in the top 5 scorers. And this is against moderate opposition in Wolves, Stoke, Everton, Newcastle and Portsmouth. Notably they played Everton at home, had only 1 player in the top 5 and still won the match.
Villa enjoy an excellent home record against Chelsea (one loss in eleven) but the stats above suggest that even if the Villans get a draw or better the Big Game points will be dominated by Chelsea. With Lampard and Drogba out Mikel gets into my team alongside Essien. I'll then pick two from Cole, Malouda, Terry and Kalou once the line-ups are announced. My only Villa player would normally be Warnock or Luke Young but I fancy Downing for this one.
And can anyone stop Chelman42 this weekend? Bradley Marson has managed them to 5 straight top 3 finishes, winning twice. Will the Chelsea of Picklive continue his streak?
